Asciipocalypse
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux
Delve deep into the dark dungeon full of terrifying ASCII monsters in this roguelike first person shooter game. Level up your character (no pun intended) and make your way down through the floors that become progressively harder and harder. Combining early 90's first person shooters and old school text-based rougelikes, Asciipocalypse presents it's eerie 3d environment, writing it out on your screen using ascii characters and nothing more.
This game started as an educational project over a year ago. The initial version was developed over the course of one month, however the game has been through some updates since. I plan to keep working on it still (as long as I'll find time to do so :)), to further improve the game's replay value and to make the overall experience more diverse. Any suggestions for new content/improvements, as well as bug/performance issues reports are very welcome.
Keep in mind that whole rendering is done on the CPU. In case of game's performance dropping, consider playing on lower screen resolution.

Install instructions
The newest version of the game should run out-of-the-box, without having to install any external dependencies. Just unpack the archive and run the executable.
Saves and other data are currently stored in the same folder as the game files, so make sure the executable will have permissions to create and write to files there.

Have any of you guys watched Lain?
Amazing. Ace code work. How's this done? Researching later. In the meantime? Kudos.
Thanks for the feedback! The code is kinda messy atm and still waits for a proper documentation, but I plan to fix that issue in the nearest future :). Stay tuned
Welcome.
An ASCII FPS? That's possible? Holy crap. Definitely playing.
